On Friday, Jan. 23, more than 250 people gathered to "Toast to Four Diamonds" for the fourth time at Hershey's Chocolate World. This year's "A Toast to Four Diamonds" event was the Chapter's fourth annual chocolate, beer and wine tasting to benefit the Four Diamonds Fund, and it was the largest and most successful to date. Last year, the event sold out at 140 guests and raised a record $5,000 for Four Diamonds. This year, after some reorganizing to allow for a larger event, we (more than) sold out at 282 guests -- and raised an incredible $10,148.84 for Four Diamonds!

The evening began with a cocktail hour featuring chocolate-inspired hors d-oeuvres, pre-tasting drinks, live music from Generation Gap, and the opening of our silent auction.

Guests then heard moving speeches from Suzanne Graney of Four Diamonds; two Four Diamonds families (the Lydia Hess family, currently being treated for pediatric cancer at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital; and the Chase Kemberling family, previously treated and now in remission), and Norman Horn, founder of Coast 2 Coast FTK. Norman walked across the country last year to raise money for Four Diamonds!

The evening culminated with three simultaneous tasting sessions, where guests enjoyed their choice of three experiences: specially crafted wine and chocolate pairings, beer and chocolate pairings, or a joint tasting with an opportunity to try both. Beer was provided by Pennsylvania brewers Appalachian Brewing Company (Harrisburg), Yards Brewing Company (Philadelphia), Stoudts Brewing Co. (Adamstown) and Spring House Brewing Co. (Conestoga). Wines were provided by the Vineyard at Hershey (Middletown). In addition to wine and beer, Jack’s Hard Cider (Biglerville) also was featured during the opening reception.

Guests enjoyed a fun evening and went home with a souvenir glass and various prizes, and the Four Diamonds Fund received more than $10,000 to fund pediatric cancer research and to benefit families undergoing treatment at the Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital. The event was a huge success!
