Chapter Receives 2014 Alumni Association Award

On Friday, October 24, 2014, the Capital Area Chapter was presented with the 2014 Young Alumni Involvement Award at the 2014 Penn State Alumni Association Volunteer Awards Banquet.

This award is given to any affiliate group that has distinguished itself through an outstanding program or event that specifically targets, reaches, and increases recruitment and participation in the Alumni Association.

President Rick Nichols accepted the award on behalf of the Chapter. Vice President Josh Hoch, Board Member Melissa Hoch, and Member Adrienne Nichols also attended the event at the Penn Stater Conference Center.

The Chapter’s winning event was the 3rd Annual Chocolate, Beer, and Wine Tasting held at Hershey's Chocolate World on January 31, 2014. Former Vice President Casey Coyle and his Committee did a wonderful job building on previous years’ events, raising $5,000 for the Four Diamonds Fund.

This year’s event, “A Toast to Four Diamonds,” will be held on January 23, 2015 at Hershey's Chocolate World. Registration is now open at

Also, we would like to give a shout out and congratulations to our friends at the Penn State Harrisburg Alumni Society. The Society won the Communications Award and Helen C. Klinger (’82) won the Philip Philip Mitchell Alumni Service Award.
